Milk & Honey (originally titled Beautiful, Loved & Blessed) is the unreleased debut studio album by Támar Davis. Recorded between 2005 and early 2006, the project was initially scheduled for release in Spring 2006. The album was promoted through advertising included with Prince’s 3121, and both Prince and Támar Davis appeared on television to support it. Prince also joined Támar on the 2006 tour as her guitarist, further building anticipation for the release.
Originally planned for March 2006, the album was subsequently delayed to May, then August, before ultimately being cancelled. A limited number of copies surfaced in Japan, allowing the artwork and full credits to become known, though the album never received an official worldwide release.
All tracks were written and produced by Prince and Támar Davis, with Prince performing the majority of the instrumentation. Contributions from Michael B. and Sonny T. appear on some tracks, while C.C. Dunham and Joshua Dunham are also credited on others.
Notably, the CD included a video of Prince’s 2006 BRIT Awards performance, where Támar Davis appeared as a backing vocalist.
The project underwent several title changes—from Wild Child to Beautiful, Loved & Blessed, before finally becoming Milk & Honey. Following Támar’s departure from Prince in late 2006, she released a digital EP, Prelude to Támar, featuring three tracks from the album: Holy Ground, Sunday in the Park, and All I Want Is U. This EP was intended as a preview of a future independent album, which ultimately was never released. Her official debut album, My Name Is Támar (2010), did not include any material from Milk & Honey.
Some songs from the sessions surfaced elsewhere. Beautiful, Loved and Blessed appeared in a revised form on Prince’s album 3121 and as a promotional single. Holla & Shout was also issued as a promotional track. Kept Woman was later re-recorded for Bria Valente’s album Elixer, while Redhead Stepchild was briefly made available for streaming via Támar Davis’s mobile app in 2012.
Several tracks from the album—including Closer 2 My Heart, Milk & Honey, Can’t Keep Living Alone, Holy Ground, and First Love—remain officially unreleased.
