What Makes This Volume Special
The Anna Stesia Demo is one of the standout inclusions — hearing one of Prince's most spiritually weighted Lovesexy-era recordings in its raw demo form reveals just how fully formed the song was from the beginning. The Soul Sanctuary Demo offers a similar window into another of his deeply personal pieces. Spirit, written for Martika, appears here in a Prince-led form. The protégée network is represented through Mind Bells (Kahoru Kohiruimaki), Cool Love (Sheena Easton), and the Family-era classics High Fashion, Mutiny, and Feline. Calhoun Square — one of the more elusive tracks in the entire Paisley Park archive — closes out a collection that genuinely earns its place in any serious Prince library.
The Prince Rave Mix that closes the CD adds an additional dimension — a deep-cut megamix that gives the disc a strong finishing flourish.
