Prince the Inner Sanctum Sab 2 CD
Prince — The Inner Sanctum (2-CD Set) | Sabotage Records SAB 036/039
A Rich, Varied Sabotage Records Collection — Soundboards, Remixes & Rarities
Released by Sabotage Records in 2001 under catalogue numbers SAB 036/039, The Inner Sanctum is one of the more eclectic and rewarding Prince collector compilations of its era. Two discs spanning studio material, rare soundboard live recordings, remixes, and the fascinating John L. Nelson tracks — all in EX to EX+ quality across more than two hours of music.
What's on the Discs
Disc One gathers seventeen tracks of studio and rare material — Splash, The Work Part 1, My Medallion, Beautiful Strange, Underneath The Cream, the NPG-era Cybersingle, 2045: Radical Man, Golden Parachute, The Daisy Chain, Mad, Funky Design, and One Song among them. A strong, varied selection spanning Prince's late-1990s and early-2000s creative period.
Disc Two is where the collector value really deepens. It opens with rare NPG Music Club soundboard recordings from multiple shows — the Hit N Run Tour at San Jose (December 2000) with Controversy and Mutiny, a Paisley Park session from October 1995 including We March and Letitgo, and the Act I Tour at the Universal Amphitheater LA (April 1993) with the Gett Off / Gold Nigga medley. It continues with a run of Brother Jules and Ben Liebrand remixes — Hot Wit U, Man O' War, Underneath The Cream, and Alphabet St — before closing with the rare John L. Nelson tracks: Yes Again, There'd Be No Way For You And I, As I Recall, and Fallin' Down, written by Prince's father.
