Prince — Blast From The Past 1.0 (1977–2007) 5-Disc CD Set | Eye Records
Thirty Years of Prince's Hidden Archive — In One Set
Originally released by Eye Records in September 2012 and now completely out of circulation, Blast From The Past 1.0 is one of the most comprehensive single collections of Prince outtakes, demos, and unreleased studio recordings ever assembled. Spanning thirty years from his earliest 1977 Minneapolis rehearsal room instrumentals through to 2007, this five-disc CD-R reproduction preserves a set that simply no longer exists in its original form.
What Makes This Set Extraordinary
Disc One opens with eight instrumental sessions recorded at Owen Husney's Loring Park office in Minneapolis in 1977 — the earliest known Prince studio recordings in collector circulation — before moving into 1982 studio material including the full version of Extraloveable and rare tracks like No Call U and Baby You're A Trip.
Disc Two goes deep into the 1982–1985 period with the full Prince vocal version of Lust U Always, the extended Computer Blue at over fourteen minutes, Manic Monday before The Bangles recorded it, and the long version of Can I Play With U featuring Miles Davis.
Disc Three is built around the complete Parade demo sessions from 1985 — Wendy's Parade, Sometimes It Snows In April, All My Dreams, and nine more tracks that show the Revolution album taking shape — followed by rare 1986–1989 material including Data Bank, Fuchsia Light, and American In Paris.
Disc Four covers 1989 through to 2007, anchored by the full Glam Slam Wallpaper session from 1994 — sixteen tracks including Come, Endorphinmachine, Race, Gold, and Chaos And Disorder — closing with Purple House from 2004 and a 2007 recording of A Case Of U.
Disc Five carries the overflow tracks that could not fit within the 90-minute capacity of the original four discs — a necessary addition that keeps the complete set fully intact.
