Tin Machine — Live at Docks, Hamburg, Germany (24 October 1991) DVD
David Bowie's Most Underrated Band — Captured Live in Hamburg
Tin Machine remains one of the most divisive and fascinating chapters in David Bowie's career. Formed in 1988 as a deliberate escape from solo superstardom, the band gave Bowie a creative freedom and raw energy that his polished 1980s output had largely left behind. The 1991 tour in support of Tin Machine II caught the group at their most confident — and this Hamburg performance at the Docks on 24 October 1991 is one of the finest surviving documents of the band in full flight.
The Performance
Twenty-two tracks across a setlist that covers both Tin Machine albums alongside well-chosen covers — Debaser, Go Now, If There Is Something, and Pretty Thing — giving the show a breadth and unpredictability that kept audiences genuinely on edge. Baby Universal appears twice, including a video shoot version. Heaven's in Here, Crack City, and You Belong in Rock & Roll close out a set that reminded anyone present exactly why Tin Machine deserved more credit than they ever received.
