From Dusk Till Dawn is one of the most complete single-collection documents of Prince's extraordinary 2009 and 2010 European run. Three discs covering two full shows at Montreux on the same night — the early evening set and the late-night show that ran past 1:30 AM — followed by an aftershow at Le Palais Club in Cannes captured at 3:45 in the morning, and bonus tracks from Denmark. All sourced from soundboard recordings.
The Montreux Shows
The first Montreux show on July 18th 2009 opens with When I Lay My Hands On U and moves through a deeply intimate setlist — Nothing Compares 2 U, The Beautiful Ones, Insatiable, Scandalous, and Empty Room among the highlights, closing with a Claude Nobs speech. The second show the same night runs from just before midnight, bringing a completely different energy — Spanish Castle Magic, All Shook Up, Peach, When You Were Mine, and the extraordinary All The Critics Love U In Montreux incorporating Housequake and Black Sweat chants, closing with Purple Rain.
The Cannes Aftershow
Disc Three is something else entirely. Le Palais Club, Cannes, July 26th 2010 — 3:45 in the morning. A live soundcheck that bleeds into a full performance covering Think, Multiply, Let's Get It On, Lovely Day, Soul Power '74, a full Instrumental Jam, Thank You For Talkin' To Me Africa, Cream, Girls & Boys, and the closing Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine. Two Denmark bonus tracks from October 2010 close the set.
